All clients meet with me on an individual basis. However, this statement means more than "one on one" to me. It means I truly see each person as an individual, with many strengths and a unique potential. Together, we move forward toward mutually agreed upon goals for your personal growth and development.
While it is impossible to list all the potential concerns bringing clients to therapy, some of the general areas include the following: relationship concerns, sleep disorders, triggers for feelings and behaviors, chronic pain or illness, trauma, anxiety, life transition issues, depression, bipolar and other cyclic mood issues, grief, difficulties at work, substance dependence and addictions, obsessive compulsive disorder, panic disorder, and hoarding.
If you have a concern that does not seem to fit into the above, please call or email my office. I am comfortable addressing most adult difficulties.
Although the experience is unique to each individual, the experience of psychotherapy is similar to having a sincere and intimate conversation with a trusted friend. However, the psychologist brings certain training and perspective that helps clients understand themselves better. With this increased understand comes new perspective, increased self-understanding, and relief.
Psychologists are held to high ethical and professional standards by two types of regulatory agencies. The Washington State Department of Health has passed statutes including those regarding safe practice, and professional organizations such as the American Psychological Association is concerned with standards of ethical practice. I fully support all guidelines helping to ensure ethical behavior of all parties involved. All information is strictly confidential. I encourage clients with any specific questions or concerns to call my office.
I am a preferred provider for most of the major insurance companies including Premera, Regence, most Blue Cross/Blue Shield companies, Aetna, First Choice and Group Health PPO plans. Please call me or your insurance company if you are not sure your plan will cover therapy. If you have another health insurance other than one listed here, you may still have significant coverage (e.g., Value Options (Boeing), Cigna). Please feel free to call or email with any questions.
